I love the poem, and I like the fact that he chose to interpret his Dada poem with a poem. It is also perceptive of him to notice that running after something one might lose track of the most important and beautiful things in life. I wish him to catch up to whatever it is that he is missing…Great work!
For today's assignment you will create a Dada-based poem, and then include a brief interpretation of your poem.
Follow these steps:
1. Write 10 random words on a sheet of paper (or cut them out of newspaper)
2. Cut out the words and turn them over so you can't see them
3. Randomly pick up the words and place them in the following: ----3 words first line ----4 words second line ----3 words final line
This is your 3-line poem! It may not make sense due to the grammatical ordering of English, but remember the point of Surrealism/Dadaism is that meaning doesn't have to be obvious.
Obviously you can see that basic words like "it" "the" "so" will not prove as interesting as more unique words.
---->Post your poem to the Blog here and write a 5-sentence paragraph interpreting your poem. You might create a title for your poem as well!
